BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Vinny Zaccario kicked a 25-yard field goal with two seconds left to give Memphis a 33-30 conference victory over Alabama-Birmingham on Thursday night.
Memphis (3-3, 1-2 Conference USA) won its third straight game and won its second in a row over UAB in a series that has become known as the "Battle for the Bones" in honor of the cities' reputations for fine barbecue.
UAB (1-5, 0-2) rode the running and throwing of quarterback Joe Webb to amass 331 yards in the first half. But Memphis' defense stiffened in the second half and quarterback Arkelon Hall led the Tigers' offense on the game-winning drive in the final four minutes.
Hall completed 18 of 28 passes for 209 yards and four touchdowns to lead Memphis.
Webb ran for 93 yards and passed for 235 yards to lead UAB.
