MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The biological father of Anna Mae He has been missing for the past three months.
The He family fought for seven years to gain custody of daughter Anna Mae, adopted by an American couple.
Last February, Anna Mae, who now lives in China, said that what she misses most about America is her friends at school.
Several months later, Jack He said by phone, "It was a big mistake for me to return to China with my kids."
Now, wife Casey He claims Jack left the family in July following an argument. She said her husband quit his teaching job and left home. She wouldn't disclose the cause of the argument to in order to protect the couple's three children.
"He change his number. Right now I don't know his number. I don't know where he lives," she said.
Casey He, whose family in China is apparently financially secure, said Jack wanted money from her family.
"He wanted three kids, ask me to pay one hundred thousand dollars for him," she said.
Casey also said the couple's three children - including Anna Mae - don't want to see their father.
"The children some time I talk to Anna, the three kids. I say, 'You miss Daddy? Do you want to see Daddy?' The three kids say 'No, we don't want to see him,'" she said.
Casey He, who lives near her family, said she and the children are happy. All three children are in private schools, where English and Chinese are spoken.
Jack He wasn't available for comment, but Action News 5 did speak with a friend of his in California, who confirmed He has left his family.
