SOUTHAVEN, MS (WMC-TV) - A Southaven man hired a company to cut down his trees but said he was left with a costly mess.
Randall Barnes claims crews damaged his backyard swimming pool.
It all started back in June when the tree cutting company's truck accidentally rolled down a hill and crashed into the Barnes family swimming pool. The result was about $1,500 worth of damage.
Barnes said tree company officials promised to write a check to pay for the repairs but somehow the check did not clear.
And then we call our pool company and they said they had received the check so we thought everything was good, but then a couple days later we get a call back from the pool company stating that the check had bounced and I knew to contact the investigators cause I've seen how they are looking out for consumer so I felt at this point I had no other avenue," Barnes said.
Thursday afternoon Action News 5 called officials at Taverna's Tree Care. The woman who answered the phone declined to comment and hung up. However, just before hanging up, the woman on the phone said the matter would be taken care of.
And around 4 o'clock it was.
It happened while Action News 5's Ben Watson was talking with the company that repaired the pool. During the conversation, someone from the Tree Company walked in to the pool company office and paid for the repairs.
And this time they paid in cash.
The Barnes family was delighted at the news, saying it was better late than never.
