The rush for early voting begins

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The stage is now set for the final push to election day. But you do not have to wait to make your choice. Some people in Tennessee cast their ballot Wednesday.

The excitement was definitely in the air. Voters we talked to said they could not wait to cast their vote. It has been a moment they have all been waiting for.

No matter who you are going to cast your vote for, people who took advantage of early voting across the mid South already knew who they wanted to see in the White House.

"My mind is already made up. The last 8 years have been miserable for America, for our place in the world.  I'm looking for a change of direction," voter Elvis Mitchell said.
Others did not even have to watch the final debate between the two candidates before making a decision.
"The debate is not going to change anything for me. It's a question of issues," voter Jesse Fischer said.

"Lots of people are going to wait until the last debate, then they'll cast their vote on November 4th and we still gonna have long lines," voter Linda Ford Mitchell said.

Most did not mind the lines or the wait.  They said getting an opportunity to be a part of such a historic election is what was important.
"I think it's one of the greatest things that's happened in this country since the beginning.  The fact that a black man can run for president," voter Joe Johnson said.

It is a sure sign times are changing and these voters were hoping it will continue to do so for the better. Especially now that their voices have been heard.

One poll worker said she has worked the polls more than 20 years and never before has she seen this many people turn out for early voting.
