Mays & Schnapp Pain Clinic and Rehabilitation Center is the only comprehensive center for the treatment of severe chronic pain in the Mid-South, offering advanced technology with a leading-edge ambulatory surgery center, a physical therapy department and psychological support, along with the physician's private practice on site.
The clinic helps patients with a variety of conditions, including reflex sympathetic dystrophy, pain from cancer, ruptured discs, shingles, spinal stenosis, arthritis, chronic neck and back pain, nerve pain and fibromyalgia.
The collaboration between Dr. Kit Mays and Dr. Moacir Schnapp began in 1979 at the University of Tennessee. In 1983, Dr. Mays and Dr. Schnapp formed a lasting partnership, forming a private practice near the Baptist Memorial Hosiptal Medical Center downtown.
Dr. Mays, an anesthesiologist, acted as the first Medical Director of the University of Tennessee Pain Clinic, which was the second of only two in the country at the time.
Dr. Schnapp, with a background in neurology, soon became the second medical director at the University of Tennessee's pain clinic. Ten years later, they opened the Mays & Schnapp Pain Clinic and Rehabilitation Center. For 28 years, they have been in practice together.
