MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - In this economic crisis, Wal-Mart apparently still keeps its low-price promise.
You might not know that Wal-Mart pledges to match any store's sales price on any item. All you have to do is bring that store's sales circular to any Wal-Mart. If you find a sale price on the circular that's lower than Wal-Mart's price for that item, Wal-Mart is supposed to match it or beat it.
On hidden camera, the Action News 5 Investigators took a Schnucks sales circular into the Wal-Mart in Bartlett, TN, on Highway 64. Schnucks' circular advertised a sale on split-breast chicken: $1.17 a pound. Wal-mart's split-breast was tagged at $3.06 a pound.
So we took the chicken -- and the Schnucks sales circular -- to check out. Our producers asked the cashier to match the Schnucks price.
Sure enough, Wal-mart matched it. It even printed the 'lowest price guarantee' right on the receipt. We saved $1.89 a pound. Shoot, we could have bought another package with the savings and got a two-for-one!
