Church moves congregation from Whispering Woods

OLIVE BRANCH, MS (WMC-TV) - Critics are outraged that a hate group will hold its conference at a Mid-South hotel. Now, Mississippi churches are canceling services at the same hotel.

Two churches have now decided to cancel their plans for worship services on November 9th at the Whispering Woods hotel in Olive Branch.

That's the same weekend, KKK leader David Duke is hosting the European-American Unity and Rights Conference at the same hotel.

Rob Thomas, Associate Pastor of Church of the Harvest in Olive Branch, said that while he has no ill feelings toward Whispering Woods, church members are very much against the beliefs of the white supremacy group.

Thomas said he wants his members to know the church does not wish to be associated with this event in any way, which is why he moved services.

Thomas said the church will be meeting a short distance from the hotel on the 9th, then will go back to Whispering Woods until its news church is completed in January.
