MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - On the day before the 2008 presidential election, thousands of COGIC Saints descended on Memphis for the start of their annual convocation.
And while the focus of the convocation is religious, presidential politics was also a hot topic.
"There is a lot of excitement in the air," Debra Savage of COGIC said.
The predominantly black religious group, founded in Memphis, claims 6.5 million members globally.
Because this year's convocation takes place during the presidential election season, many out of town COGIC members made it a point to vote before they left home.
Members said no matter which candidate you are pulling for, it is important that everyone participate in the election process.
