WREC-AM radio host Craig Robbins dies of heart attack

WREC-AM's morning radio host Craig Robbins died Friday of a heart attack, Clear Channel Memphis Operations Manager Tim Spencer said.

Spencer said Robbins suffered a heart attack while driving.  Passersby took him out of his car and gave him CPR while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.  He died on the way to the hospital.

According to WREC's website, Robbins was a native of New York who moved to Memphis in 1987.

A veteran of broadcast radio, Robbins most recently hosted "Memphis Morning News" weekdays on 600 WREC.
