Three arrested on Union University campus

JACKSON, TN (WMC-TV) - Three people were arrested at Union University after a disturbance on campus.

Officials at the Christian-centered school instructed the Soulforce Q Equality Riders to stay a certain distance from the main campus.

The group was trying to talk to students about rights for gay and transgendered students.

When the group tried to move further into campus, police turned them away.

After the ordeal, Union officials released  this statement.

"Although Union University cannot affirm this group's message, the university leadership made an attempt to offer dialog and Christian hospitality to Equality Riders. It is regrettable that the leadership of Soulforce responded by rejecting these offers."
