HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. (AP) - The mayor of Helena-West Helena has suspended seven police officers and two record clerks without pay for failing to compile records he asked for.
Mayor James Valley told the Helena Daily World that he suspended the workers because the city has "to hold everybody accountable." Valley said he asked for police radio logs for every shift since the Arkansas State Police came to help officers with a citywide curfew effort.
Valley said the clerks were suspended because they failed to follow a directive he gave Monday about the records.
