Restaurant Scorecard: November 13, 2008

COLLERVILLE, TN (WMC-TV) - Collierville is home to countless places to eat, but this week, three eateries there failed their health inspections.

At the Backyard Burger on Houston Levee, inspectors found pink slime in the ice machine, and cutting boards that were stained and dirty.  And do you like lemon in your tea?  Not here - the lemons were moldy and ordered thrown out.

  • Backyard Burger Collierville Failed with a 67.

At the Krystal on Poplar in Collierville, health inspectors saw an employee handling the food without first washing his hands.  Another employee who should have been wearing gloves was handling food with bare hands.  Health inspectors also found dirty equipment - gaskets and vent filters - plus trash on the ground outside the restaurant.

  • Krystal in Collierville failed with a 63.  The restaurant has been re-inspected and now has an 82.

Down the street, Ck's Coffee Shop in Collierville had a greasy, dirty coffee maker.  Inspectors found toxic chemicals stored on the same shelf with food, a dirty meat drawer, and food particles on so-called "clean" dishes.

  • Ck's Collierville failed with 69.

In Olive Branch, Mississippi, the Hissho Sushi inside the Kroger Store on Goodman Road had three critical violations, including food not properly disposed of and food not properly protected.  Hisho Sushi earned a score of B on a corrective follow-up.

Buffalo Wild Wings, on Goodman Road in Olive Branch, received a C for critical violations.  There, food was not properly dated and marked, and they had an unspecified pest problem.

Just down the road, the Krystal in Olive Branch had dirty food contact surfaces.  The restaurant improved to a B on in a follow-up inspection.

In Southaven, at The Pig on Getwell Road, inspectors found three critical violations: food was not properly separated and protected, food contact surfaces were dirty, and dates were not properly marked.  The PIG received a B in a follow-up inspection.
