Officials respond to meth lab

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Officials with the Memphis Fire Department and the Shelby County Sheriff's Department reponded to a meth lab at a home in the 7000 block of Rose Trail late Thursday afternoon.

According to investigators, six men and a woman were taken into custody, accused of manufacturing the drug.

Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell called the operation "sophisticated" with meth making going on in several rooms of the house.

"Today we got some real strong intelligence that it was going on, and we felt like it was compelling that we make our move today, and went inside and found a meth manufacturing operation," Luttrell said.

Luttrell said neighbors tipped off investigators that suspicious activity was going on in the house.

A strong chemical smell was also coming from the house.
