Scouts across region collect holiday food donations

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC-TV) - Local scouts broke food donation records for the Mid-South Food bank Saturday.
In a holiday season where giving has been hampered by a troubled economy, Mid-Southerners opened their pantries and their wallets this weekend before Thanksgiving to feed the hungry.

"It's our good turn daily. If you research the reasons scouting was brought to America, it's because of our good turns...ways of doing something to help the community out and people in need," said Stewart Williams of Boy Scouts of America.

Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts across the Mid-South spent the day collecting non-perishable items to feed the food bank's 318 agencies in 31 Mid-South counties.
