Pressly family prepares for trial with suspect in custody

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The Pressley family has been grieving for more than a month, waiting for police to find the man who killed their daughter. Late Wednesday night, detectives named Curtis Vance as the suspect. They arrested and charged him with capital murder.

"It's very hard to take knowing that was the last person that Anne saw alive," father Guy Cannady said.

A father hurting, yet hopeful police have the right man.

"This is a capital murder case and I fully expect it to be tried and for him to receive a conviction appropriate to capital murder," Cannady said.

The suspect, Curtis Vance, is from Marianna Arkansas. A small country town with a little more than 5,000 people.

Detectives said other than a few traffic violations, Vance's criminal record was clean.

Little Rock Investigators said forensic evidence made this case. They insist an interview with Vance at the Marianna  police station Tuesday helped make that case.

"We've looked at lot of different other things in course of investigation. The information that lead us to obtain warrant for this individual came within last week," Chief Stuart Thomas of the Little Rock Police Department said.

The warrant led to an arrest and a murder charge. With the search for a killer over, the long process of a capital murder trial begins.

Pressly's father said it is a painful process. He's hurting but still hopeful for a conviction.

"Very angry is probably the best way to describe it," Cannady said.

An arraignment for Curtis Vance is set for tomorrow. Prosecutors have not said whether they'll go for the death penalty in this case.
