Woman attacked, dragged across Kroger parking lot

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis shopper was hospitalized Thursday after she was attacked with a wrench and dragged across a Kroger parking lot.

According to police, the attack happened Thursday morning in the parking lot of a Kroger grocery store on Lamar Avenue.  Investigators said Tualina Parker and Theresa Mull were inside the store when a man approached Mull and began harassing her.

Parker said Mull asked the man to leave her alone, and he did - until the women left the store, where he was waiting for them.

"She came over to get in the car, and the guy jumped out with a socket wrench and tried to attack her, and I didn't know what happened," Parker said.

Parker watched in horror as her friend fought back, grabbed the wrench in self defense, and was dragged outside the man's car for the length of the parking lot.

"He pulled out a socket wrench about this long, and he was fixing to hit her with it, and she reached in and tried to grab it, and he skidded off with her holding onto the car," Parker said.

Mull finally broke free right before the robber pulled out on to busy Lamar Avenue.

"He let her go once when she got down there," Parker said.

Paramedics arrived minutes later.  Mull's father, Nathaniel Ship, showed up as his daughter was being taken to the hospital.

"I was waiting on the ambulance," he said. "It was taking so long, so I just wondered what was going on."

Friends said Theresa Mull shops here often, but on this day crime became a part of her daily routine.

"It's out of control everywhere," Mull said. "Not just here. It's everywhere."

Parker told police the man who attacked her friend was driving a late 90's model navy blue Ford Explorer with gold trim.  If you can help police find him call Memphis Police CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
