Burglary suspects arrested in East Memphis

A white van packed with stolen goods sat in a yard at the end of a dead-end street off of White Station Road on Thursday - the end of of the line for a pair of suspected burglars.
"He even took a case of water," said MPD Major Rashonda Hampton.
A man and a woman were arrested minutes after police say they broke into a storage room around the corner. It was the second home burglarized in the neighborhood within in a matter of hours on Thursday, and a burglar alarm alerted undercover officers already working  the area.
"The officers were in the right place at the right time," said Major Hampton.
Hampton said the suspects rammed a police vehicle in an attempt to get away. "However, the officer was not injured and continued to follow," she said.
Eventually, there was nowhere left to run.
"And I was like, 'Oh my God mom, come downstairs!'" said Chase Mednikow. The 11-year-old saw one of the suspects in custody, lying on the ground.
"First, I thought somebody had gotten hurt or something," she said.  "Then, I was like, 'Oh no -- it's a robber!'"
Mednikow says the home of one of her friends was recently burglarized, and it's possible the same people are responsible.
"And now I feel more secure about it," she said.
Police are trying to connect the pair of suspected burglars to other crimes.

"And we're going to continue to attack the burglary problem," said Hampton.

Charges against the pair are pending.
