New video released in murder case

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Just last week, another innocent bystander was killed, caught in the crossfire of a convenience store shooting.

On Wednesday, Memphis police released video footage they hope will help catch a killer.

A young man in a white shirt, black jacket and khaki pants is the suspect police are searching for.

Investigators say the suspect and several others got into a fight inside McLemore Market on Sharpe Avenue last Wednesday night.

Around this same time, another angle on the surveillance tape shows a man leaving the store and getting into a truck parked in front of the store.

Shortly after, shots were fired and a clerk inside the store ran toward the back.

And shortly after that some people who'd been outside Mclemore Market ran back inside.

By then, 45-year-old Jake Walker was dead, slumped over the wheel of his truck.

Former co-worker Willie Matthews said, "That's a tragedy these folks with these guns think about it they got guns they just doing everything."

Matthews used to work at McLemore Market. The shooting has made him and other area residents more cautious, he said. "But you know I will be more careful now when in in the neighborhood that's it."

Investigators say the suspect is 17 or 18 years old, and about 6-feet-tall. He has a gap between his teeth, wavy hair and bumps on his face.

If you have any information that can help police, call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
