Grizzlies Trade for Steve Francis

Stevie Franchise is now a member of the Memphis Grizzlies!

Before you get too excited..know this.

The Grizzlies acquire guard Steve Francis in a trade with the Houston Rockets today.

From where I stand, the move is designed MORE to get Memphis' Second round pick back for next season.

That's the one the team gave up to eventually get Rookie Darrell Arthur from the Rockets on Draft night back in June.

All Memphis gives up for the 31-year old former All-Star is a conditional second round pick in 20-11..

That pick is protected to 55...or 5 from the bottom.

The 6'3" Francis has not played this season..

He played only 10-games last year after suffering a knee injury...and hasn't played a full season since 2004-'05.

The Rockets also give the Grizz and undisclosed amount of cash.

It's Ironic Francis winds up Memphis..

He originally refused to sign with the Grizz when the Franchise, then based in Vancouver, drafted him with the 2nd overall pick in 19-99.

Francis 9-year career averages are 18-pts, 5.6 Rebounds a 6 assists per game.
