Pakistanis mourn Bhutto 1 year on amid tensions with India

GARHI KHUDA BAKHSH, Pakistan (AP) - Tens of thousands of people have paid homage to Benazir Bhutto on the first anniversary of her assassination.

The commemoration today came amid heightened tensions with India over the Mumbai terror attacks and a Pakistani troop buildup along their shared border.

Bhutto's widower, President Asif Ali Zardari, did not mention the troop movement in a speech honoring his wife, but insisted Pakistan is battling the "cancer" of terrorism.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani is calling for peace. In a televised speech, he said Pakistan doesn't want to fight or wage war with its neighbors.

Meanwhile, India's foreign minister is urging Pakistan to focus on fighting homegrown militant violence and avoid what he calls "war hysteria."
