3 shot inside car on New Year's Eve

Memphis police say three people were found shot inside their car in front of a KFC restaurant on New Year's Eve. It appears the victims were ambushed, and police are searching for two male suspects.

The shooting occured shortly before 8:00 p.m. in the 2500 block of Malone, near the home of of one of the victims.

"They pulled up to their home, within about a quarter of a mile of their home," said MPD Col. Mark McLean. "They opened fire on them as they attempted to flee.

The victims ended up several blocks away near the intersection of Pendleton and Lamar, where investigators drew a circle around a pool of blood near a car riddled with 12 bullet holes.

One victim was transported in critical condition, and the other two are listed as non-critical at The Med. 

Thelma Louis says all three men are her relatives. "I don't know what to expect...my cousin, my brother."   

The motive for the shooting is unclear.
