Memphis family continues to search for missing woman

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC-TV) - Valois Jones-Dunlap, 51, was last seen driving a Buick on New Year's Day.

Her burnt vehicle was found this week at an abandoned housing complex on Texas Street. No body was found, and any clues that could have helped police were lost when the car went up in flames.

Jones-Dunlap's mother, Sadie Coleman, said her daughter went missing while running routine errands. "And she was going to the day care to pick up the grandkids. She never made it to the day care."

Darryl Jones is one of Jones-Dunlap's four children.

"If my mother's alive, I just want her to come home," he said.

Dunlap's family is convinced she would have never left on her own. They suspect her car was burned the night she disappeared.

One witness claims she saw Dunlap's car being followed by three men shortly before she vanished, but that lead has turned up nothing so far.

"I just want to know if my mother's alive, and if she's deceased...we just want to give my mother a decent burial," said Jones.

The family says they'll continue to search on their own while police continue their investigation.

Jones-Dunlap has a tattoo that reads "LOIS" on her right leg. Call MPD's Missing Persons Bureau at 636-4448 with any information.
