Memphis beats Central Florida 73-66

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Robert Dozier, Antonio Anderson and Tyreke Evans each scored 15 points and Memphis rallied from an eight-point second-half deficit to beat Central Florida 73-66 on Saturday.

Memphis (12-3, 2-0 Conference USA) snapped the Knights' 12-game home winning streak in front of the largest crowd in UCF history (9,825).

UCF (10-5, 0-1) took a 53-48 lead on a 3-pointer by Isaac Sosa with 14:52 remaining. But Memphis' defense didn't allow the Knights a field goal for the next 11:18. During that period, the Tigers outscored UCF 21-7 to take a 69-60 lead.

Jermaine Taylor's basket with 51 seconds left brought the Knights to 69-66, but a basket by Evans and two free throws by Doneal Mack, who finished with 11 points, sealed the Memphis victory.

Taylor finished with 24 points, Tony Davis scored 16 and Kenrick Zondervan finished with 10 points for UCF. Davis also notched 10 rebounds.

Taylor, the sixth-leading scorer in the nation with 23.6 points per game, drew his third foul with 2:36 remaining in the first half and was forced to the bench with the Knights trailing by two. A.J. Rompza, however, nailed a three-pointer with 1:49 left that gave Central Florida a 40-39 lead at halftime.

Memphis outscored UCF 34-26 in the second, including shooting 48.1 percent from the field (13 of 27) compared to a 36.4 percent mark (8 of 22) for the Knights.

The Tigers went 15 of 20 free throws, while the Knights were 12 of 21 from the line.
