North Memphis family loses home to fire

A North Memphis family lost their home to a fire that investigators say was likely caused by an electrical problem.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at McNeil and Louisville just before 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The family was inside when the lights suddenly shut off and the blaze broke out, authorities said.

An explosion and fire sent flames and smoke shooting out windows and through the roof.

All seven family members who were inside at the time escaped without injuries.

"Nothing but smoke was all over the house," said Damion Ingram, who escaped the blaze. "My aunt and cousin was upstairs, we had the baby. We barely made it out. In less than a minute, the house was smoking and it caught on fire."
