Dusting of snow creates beautiful images, slippery roads

A dusting of snow Tuesday morning created slippery roads Tuesday morning, making some students wonder if school would be canceled.

The thin blanket of snow covered everything from rooftops to bushes to cars in Millington off Highway 51.  The snow was widespread and heavy enough to cause roads to slicken up and students to question weather school would be held.

"I looked at the news before I cam to make sure we still had school," 12th grade student Jasmine Washington said.

Laderrious McKinney, and 11th grade student, agreed.

"It was snowing," he said. "I thought we'd stay home."

But his mother knew better.

"My mom said, 'You better get your butt onto school.  Person on the TV said you better get onto school,'" he said.

Some students said they were actually thankful school wasn't canceled Tuesday.

"I actually wanted to come because of the inaugural," Washington said. "It was better to see it with my peers, so I still wanted to come."
