If you got this e-mail, delete it immediately.  DO NOT CLICK ON EITHER OF THOSE LINKS!  If you do, Dan Boone of the IRS says you will download malicious software that will infect your computer and steal your passwords and other personal information.

Or you will be prompted to type in your personal information, including your Social Security number and possibly a credit card number.

Neither the IRS, another government agency nor a private entity acting as an agent of the government will ever contact you by e-mail about anything!  That's just not how they do business.

Also, the recent stimulus check issued by Congress -- that's done.  Kaput.  Over.  If Congress decides to do it again and you qualified for one, the federal government would just send the check to you.  It wouldn't contact you to ask you to do anything.  It may send a letter alerting you to the coming check, but it will NEVER, EVER contact you by e-mail or phone, asking you to do something to collect the check.
