Action News 5 Winter Weather Update

Good evening from the Action News 5 Newsroom.  Here's the latest on the winter weather in our area:

  • Dave Brown reported at 5pm that the ice storm warning has been expanded to include the Memphis metropolitan area.  It will be in effect until 9:00am Wednesday.  Rain will change to freezing rain after midnight, and it may be mixed with sleet and a little snow.  It is unlikely that temperatures will stay above freezing all night, so streets will likely be slick late tonight and early tomorrow morning.  Tune tonight to Action News 5 at 10pm for Dave's updated forecast.
  • We are already receiving school closings for Wednesday.  Click here for our complete list, updated every five minutes.
  • Wednesday morning at 7:00am, Ron Childers will host extended winter weather coverage on WMCTV.com.  Live video will automatically begin playing in the video window located on the top, right side of our homepage Wednesday beginning at 7:00am.
  • We want to see what the winter weather is like where you're at.  Send your weather pictures and video to our new user-generated website, My 5.  You can email them to my5@wmctv.com directly from your cell phone, or log on to my5.wmctv.com to upload them from your PC.
  • Finally, we'll be sending out periodic updates on our Twitter feed.  Follow us on Twitter by clicking here.

Have a great evening, and stay safe.
