Trial scheduled in boy's shooting death by officer

The family of a West Memphis boy who was shot to death by a police officer is taking a wrongful death lawsuit to trial.

In July of 2007, Sargeant Erik Sammis shot and killed 12-year-old DeAunta Farrow when the officer mistook the boy's toy gun for the real thing.

Sammis was exonerated of any criminal wrongdoing.

Farrow's family filed a multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against the City of West Memphis, Arkansas.

The trial is scheduled to begin in February.
