Former Shelby County commissioner dead at 81

Former Shelby County Commissioner Thomas Edwin "Pete" Sisson died today at the age of 81.

Sisson served as a local elected official for 40 years.

He was a former City of Memphis Commissioner of Public Works and a 2-term Shelby County Commissioner.
      
Sisson was chief executive officer of a family-owned real estate management company from 1979 until the time of his death.  
     
He is survived by his wife, seven children and 19 grandchildren.
    
Funeral arrangements are still pending.
