Video shows Mississippi coach plead with police

CINCINNATI (AP) - A newly released police video shows Mississippi basketball coach Andy Kennedy pleading with an officer before his arrest on an assault charge.

Kennedy was arrested in downtown Cincinnati on Dec. 18 after a taxi driver said Kennedy hit him and used racial slurs.

WLWT-TV in Cincinnati has shown excerpts of a police cruiser video. On it, an officer warns Kennedy he could face additional charges if he doesn't do what police say.

Kennedy tells an officer that he was formerly the University of Cincinnati head coach and is in town to play "Louisville and Rick Pitino" on national television.

Kennedy pleads with police and says the case will be "a national incident."

Kennedy has denied the driver's allegations and faces trial April 20.
