Southaven's Davis to seek re-election as mayor

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - Mayor Greg Davis, who made two unsuccessful bids for Congress last year, says he will seek re-election to Southaven's top office.

Davis' decision sets the stage for a three-way showdown for Southaven's top post.

Fellow Republican and businessman Mitch Wright qualified in early January and, as a result, will appear with Davis on the May 5th GOP primary ballot. The winner will then face William Forrester, a Democrat, in the June 2nd general election.

Davis won the Republican nomination for the First Congressional District seat last year but ultimately lost two elections to Democrat Travis Childers.
