COVINGTON, TN (WMC-TV) - Two young children were rushed to local hospitals after being severely burned Monday night inside their home.

Takaya Hill, 1, was taken by helicopter to Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis, while her brother, Tredarius, was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Covington.

Their mother, Dana Hill, said the children were burned when she went to use the restroom while she was cooking fish.

"Before I could get finished using the bathroom real good, I heard something go boom, and all the kids hollered," she said.

Hill said she quickly ran to her kitchen.

"The baby girl was on fire, so I went in there and put out the fire," she said.

Hill said at first, she didn't realize her son was also burned.

"I didn't know he was burned until I saw him running outside, jumping up hollering.," she said.

He was burned on his back.  Hill says she's not exactly sure how the children were burned.
