Spoiling hamburger steaks and mice excrement pretty much guarantee a failed health inspection.
CK's Coffee Shop, 7665 Poplar Ave. in Germantown, TN, found that out the hard way.
It failed its most recent Memphis-Shelby County Health Department inspection with a 69. The inspector's report says the restaurant's hamburger steaks were stored in the reach-in cooler at a dangerous temperature. The report recommends to "discard" the meat.
The report also cites "evidence of mice, dropping(s)" under one of the sinks.
The coffee shop's listed phone number is inaccurate. When I visited the store, it was empty except for three female employees. When I introduced myself and explained why I was there, each tells me there is no manager on duty. I left my Action News 5 business card with one of them and asked that have the manager call me back.
So I get an accurate phone number and call on them again. This time, they tell me to call "J.D.," supposedly CK's district manager at the store on Shelby Drive in Whitehaven. I call that store and a woman who sounds half-dead tells me "J.D."'s not there. She takes my name and number and says "J.D." will call me back.
I'm starting to think "J.D." is just "B"-you-know-what.
CK's Germantown store is still awaiting its follow-up inspection.
