MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC-TV) - Sheriff's detectives discovered something green at a Raleigh grocery store, but it wasn't vegetables.

Narcotics detectives found live marijuana plants at F & S Grocery on Millington Road in Raleigh.

Store manager Ahmad Allam is charged with theft, firearms possession and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. He's out of jail on bond.

Neighbors said they found it unusual to see the store's parking lot so full.

"It did to me at times because the Mapco around the corner didn't have that many cars out front," said neighbor Wesley Hyatt.

Detectives armed with a search warrant and drug-sniffing dogs raided the store on Wednesday. They found 18 marijuana plants growing in the office, as well as processed marijuana hidden in boxes.

They also discovered five pistols inside the store's safe and three other weapons near the cash register.

Shelby County Sheriff's Dept. Spokesman Steve Shular says one of the guns was stolen in a 2005 burglary. "We know at least one of those guns was stolen. Where the other ones came from...that's still under investigation. We're checking to see if there's an active sale of those guns. "

The ATF has joined the investigation to help figure out where the guns came from.

Customer Bill McCain says he's not sure if he'll continue shopping at F & S Grocery. "I can't believe it. I've been in that store lots of times. I would never have thought something like that was going on."
