Cricket employees raise funds for homeless MCS students

The Memphis City Schools system has about 1500 homeless students. It's a shocking statistic, but one hasn't gone unnoticed in the community.

On Friday afternoon, employees at the Cricket Wireless store in Millington presented a $1200 dollar check to help the district's Homeless Children and Youth Program.

The money was collected by the store's workers, who said they wanted to help give needy children a chance at academic success.

"We're very thankful and fortunate, even in these trying economic times, to really be able to give and to make a difference in this community," an employee said.

You can donate to the MCS Youth Fund at any Memphis Area Teachers Credit Union branch, or call (901) 416-7284 during business hours for more information.
