Excitement filled the air on Wednesday night at the Westhaven Community Church of God in Christ, where Lil Rounds' family and friends celebrated the Memphis native's advancement to the top 12 on American Idol.

"I'm so excited, overwhelmed with joy," said Teon Hollowell, the singer's friend and hairstylist. "I'm really excited for her. I know she could do it."

Lil's supporters gathered at a South Memphis watch party to see the 23-year-old compete for the spot.

The group screamed as Lil Rounds took to the stage to sing "Be Without You" by Mary J. Blige.

The judges were very impressed with her vocals.

"She blew the roof off that place and we're so excited," said cousin Jacqueline Bougard. "I hope they can hear us from here. I hope they can hear us in California because we're so happy!"

The crowd wore Lil Rounds t-shirts and signed a banner in support of the wife and mother of three children.

They say she comes from a musically-gifted family, and they're proud to see her pursuing her dream.

"The whole family has been outstanding when it comes to music and singing. She just happens to be the one discovered," said cousin William Mackey. "She's doing real good, and I'm proud of her."

Lil Rounds fan club of family and friends will continue to cheer her on in hopes that she'll be the next American Idol.

"It's just oustanding. I really believe she's going to make it," said Mackey.
