MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - FedEx Office branches around the country printed out free resumes Tuesday to help people looking for a job during tough economic times.

As her free resume copies rolled off the printer, Memphian Cheryl O'Bannon could hardly believe it.

"I asked the young lady how could they do it and how much was it going to cost me, and she said it was no cost," O'Bannon said.

And it was "no cost" for resumes at FedEx all day long.  Managers said they hoped the free promotion would be a bright spot for customers going through tough economic times.

"Well we realized at the company that times are hard right now with the recession going on right now," FedEx Office manager Ron Briggs said.  "With the recession going on, the job market is tough. People need jobs more than ever, so this was actually a suggestion from a team member in New York."

The promotion treated customers around the country to 25 free copies.  Managers said a steady stream of people showed up, and all were grateful.

"What's even better that - people are telling us, 'You know, I'm on my way to do an interview now, so thank you for doing this. This is a great initiative,'" Briggs said.

A great initiative, and a great help to people struggling to find work in a depressed economy.

The company received it as a good idea," Briggs said. "We decided to run with it, so this is one way we can help out in the community."

According to managers, the promotion saved customers an average of ten to fifteen dollars.
