Search continues for murder suspect following barricade at central Memphis home

Standoff ends, no sign of murder suspect

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Shelby County Sheriff deputies, negotiators and U.S. Marshals swarmed a home on Emmie Street Friday searching for Cadarius Head.

The 24-year-old is wanted for first degree murder.

Authorities said Head was barricaded inside a home near Euclid and Emmie.

According to a neighbor, two young children were also barricaded inside the house and have since been released.

Deputies arrived shortly after 2 p.m., trying to make contact with the suspect.

Lieutenant Anthony Bucker confirmed there was a man inside of the home.

“In fact that individual when deputies first arrived, he shut the door on deputies keeping him outside,” said Buckner.

After a 6-hour standoff, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and negotiators ended the barricade.

Once finally inside, investigators found a man, a woman and the two small children. Head was nowhere to be found.

"We did search the home Cadarius Head was not located inside. We're not sure if he escaped prior to us getting here, but we did have intelligence that brought us here today," said Buckner.

The woman inside was arrested on an unrelated assault charge.

The man is currently detained and being questioned.

The two small children are just fine. We were told they were just a little frightened
