COURTLAND, MS (WMC) - Two people are in custody in connection with a shooting Monday night in Courtland, Mississippi that sent three people to a Memphis hospital.
Jasmine Cox, 23, and 24-year-old Mikal Cox were arrested after a blowout on Highway 35. A passerby thought the suspects looked suspicious and called the sheriff’s office.
When deputies arrived, they recognized the car and took the suspects into custody. According to the sheriff’s office, the suspects were waiting for one of their mothers to pick them up.
The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday at the same gas station on Highway 51 where Jessica Chambers was last seen before her murder in 2014.
Paramedics flew the victims to Regional One where they remain in critical condition Tuesday
Both suspects are charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
