SAN ANTONIO, TX (WMC) - The Memphis Grizzlies are out to give themselves a Happy Thanksgiving away from home as they knocked off the Spurs in San Antonio.

The Spurs are the perennial Southwest Division Champions.

If you look at the standings right now, however, it’s the Grizzlies who not only lead the division but are second in the whole NBA Western Conference, just a half game out of first!

Rookie Jeran Jackson Jr. started out strong but he’s whistled for five fouls in 19 minutes. Marc Gasol looked good against LaMarcus Aldridge, but he also spent time on the bench with five fouls.

JaMychal Green, 12 points but he fouls out. That leaves it up to veteran Mike Conley. The conductor gets a strong 30 points, nine assists and no turnovers. Fourteen points in the fourth quarter keeps the Griz in it.

DeMar DeRozen hits a tough jumper with 1.7 left, the Spurs up 103-102.

Only thing for the Grizz to do is go Big, as in Big Spain. He’s fouled by Rudy Gay on the inbound pump fake. He calmly sinks two at the line, then defends Aldridge on the final shot.

The Grizzlies broke a six-game losing streak to the Spurs, winning 104-103.

The Grizzlies, now 12-5, next stay on the road for a trip to California to face the L.A. Clippers Friday at 2:30 p.m.
