Oqautis Harris is accused of assaulting a woman and her children at Whitehaven High School in November 2018.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Police arrested a 20-year-old Memphis man on Thanksgiving day for an assault on a woman and her two children at Whitehaven High School earlier this month.

Police say Crystal Banks was searching for an officer with her son and daughter when an unknown male approached and the conversation became heated.

Bridges told police the unknown male launched himself at her daughter, picked her up by the throat and threw her to the ground. Banks and her son tried to defend her daughter but the unknown male and two other unknown males assaulted them.

Banks says she and her children were hit and kicked multiple times by all three suspects.

A few days later, Banks identified Oquatis Harris, 19 at the time of the assault, as one of the males who jumped in after her daughter was thrown to the ground.

A warrant was issued for Harris' arrest Nov. 19 and he was taken into custody Thursday. He was released from jail after posting $100 bond.

The other two suspects are still at large.
