MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis may be known as Hoops City, but it’s also home to elite high school football talent. Two of the biggest prep football stars in the 901 were recognized at the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards in Nashville on Sunday.
Lausanne Collegiate School running back Eric Gray won his third Division II Class AA Mr. Football award.
Gray is the all-time leader for touchdowns in the state of Tennessee. He’s currently committed to play college football at the University of Michigan, but the University of Tennessee is gaining ground of securing the class of 2019 4-Star all-purpose back’s commitment.
Memphis University School wide receiver and defensive back Maurice Hampton won the Division II Class AAA Mr. Football Award.
The class of 2019 4-star defensive back is currently committed to play college football at Louisiana State University.
Hampton will also play in the DII Class AAA State Championship game against Brentwood Academy (Nashville, TN) on Friday.
