MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Lime scooters are coming soon to Memphis streets...again.
Lime will roll out 250 electric scooters across Downtown, Uptown and Midtown Memphis on December 3.
Lime launched in Memphis in October, months after Bird--Lime's competitor--launched.
However, Lime did so without obtaining a permit or operating agreement in the city.
So the city ordered Lime to remove the scooters from its streets.
At the time, the city said it welcomes shared mobility but insists companies follow the city’s shared mobility ordinance.
City officials reached an agreement with Lime for the scooters to come back, and the company agreed to roll them out after the St. Jude Marathon.
Lime will now make sure the scooters are parked responsibly and will have employees collecting the scooters daily and making sure they are charged and maintained.
Lime scooters are $1 to unlock and an additional 15 cents per hour to ride.
