MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis running back Darrell Henderson had a prolific 2018 season for the Tigers, and is being rewarded as such.
Henderson was named to AP’s All-America first team on Monday.
The back is the only player from the American Athletic Conference to make an AP All-American list.
Henderson has a good chance of surpassing 2,000 yards on the ground when the Tigers play Wake Forest in the Birmingham Bowl.
He logged 1,909 yards rushing and 25 total touchdowns on the season, torching defenses for 8.9 yards per carry.
He saved perhaps his best performance for the AAC Championship game against UCF with three scores and 210 yards.
There is, however, some doubt on if Henderson will be available for the bowl game. The junior back is expected to be a hot commodity should he enter the NFL Draft, and he could chose to sit out and prepare for the pre-draft events this spring.
