MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Memphis Grizzlies have signed forward Jarnell Stokes to a two-way contract.
Stokes is in his second season with the NBA G League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce. He’s played in six games this season with the Skyforce, averaging 15.2 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists while shooting 60 percent from the field and 70.6 percent from the free throw line.
The 24-year-old Memphis native was named the 2016 NBA G League MVP and Finals MVP after leading the Skyforce to the Championship.
Stokes was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 35th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He competed in 17 games for the Grizzlies to begin his NBA career, appearing in 28 games with two starts over three seasons with the Grizzlies, Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets.
Stokes attended Central High School before playing collegiate basketball at the University of Tennessee. He played professionally last season for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls, averaging 25 points, 13.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
