MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - More than 7,000 animals at MAS found new beginnings through adoption or rescue transfer in 2018.
Leaders say this was possible through new foster programs and adoption promotions.
However, overall they say the culture in the community is changing.
“There’s been a real change in how our culture believes is the way to get a pet. There are so many more people who adopt versus buy, and that’s what we need. We all need to be a part of this solution,” Katie Pemberton, community engagement specialist, said.
Memphis Animal Services had more animals coming in 2018 too.
Its intake rate was 8 percent higher than the year before.
