LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - Nearly two-thirds of Arkansas counties saw flu cases, with 40 positive PCR flu tests during the last week of the year.
According to the Arkansas Department of Health Flu Report, over 2,300 positive flu tests have been reported to the ADH online database since Sept. 30 by health care providers in the state.
State health officials say the majority of the cases happened in Garland, Pulaski, Sebastian, Benton, Faulkner, Craighead, Jefferson, Washington, Frankllin and Johnson counties. Of the flu tests, nearly three-quarters of the tests were positive for influenza A, while the rest were influenza B.
The state reported that about three percent of people who visit emergency rooms during the week was due to the flu, while four percent of outpatient doctor visits were for the flu.
There has been 10 flu-related deaths in Arkansas so far this year, with one pediatric death in the Natural State due to the flu.
