MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Tiger Midfielder David Zalzman was drafted by the Portland Timbers in the 4th round of the MLS Super Draft.
Portland finished as MLS runner up last season to Atlanta United. Zalzman scored 4 goals, including 2 penalty kicks, as a Senior.
He earned Second Team All American Athletic Conference honors his Junior season with the Tigers.
"Congrats to David, he's worked extremely hard for this the last four years, and an opportunity like this is all you can ask for," head coach
Richard Mulrooney said of the selection. “I’m sure he’ll make the best of it. We’re all proud of him, and we’ll be following his career.”
Zalzman is the first U of M Soccer Player Drafted since Forward Mark Sherrod was taken by the Houston Dynamo in 2014.
