MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Marc Gasol era in Memphis is officially over.
The Grizzlies big man has been traded to Toronto in a deal with the Raptors, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Grizzlies are expected to receive Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, CJ Miles, and a future second-round pick in return.
Valanciunas is the top player in the haul. The 26-year-old has been a steady player for Toronto, but has started just 10 games this season and has seen a decrease in minutes.
Wright is a point guard that could see minutes behind Mike Conley should the Grizzlies look to assess what he brings to the table.
Miles, 31, was a veteran without a true role in Toronto despite signing a 3-year deal in 2017. He’s averaged just 14 minutes per game this season.
Wojnarowski also reports Memphis has dealt JaMychal Green and Garrett Temple to the Clippers for Avery Bradley.
Temple and Green are on expiring contracts that will help Los Angeles clear cap space.
It’s unclear what role, if any, Bradley will play in Memphis. The 28-year-old is signed through 2020.
Meanwhile, guard Shelvin Mach has been reportedly sent to Atlanta.
The Grizzlies will reportedly get guard Tyler Dorsey in return. Dorsey was a second-round pick by Atlanta in 2017.
Gasol has been a career-long Grizzly since the famous 2008 trade for his brother.
He will leave the franchise as their all-time leader in points, minutes played, rebounds, and blocks.
Gasol is a former Defensive Player of the Year, three-time All-Star, and two-time All-NBA player.
Most importantly, he represented part of the core that led the team to seven straight playoff appearances from 2010-2017.
But after a dismal season in last year followed by more struggles have prompted the Grizzlies to start a rebuild.
The front office is reported to be prepared to build the team around top pick Jaren Jackson, Jr., who has been a top rookie this year.
Mike Conley will stay with the Grizzlies.
