MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was attacked at Bolton High School Friday while trying to arrest a student for gambling.
The sheriff’s office says Lorenzo Brim, 18, was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
According to the affidavit, the deputy spotted a group of students in a school bathroom who appeared to be gambling. The deputy told the students to leave but Brim “became very irate and refused to comply with any verbal directives.”
The report says Brim used profane and derogatory language and approached the deputy in an aggressive manner. The deputy attempted a “takedown,” which started a physical fight. The deputy lost his footing as Brim charged, knocking him to the ground.
Brim is then accused of getting on top of the deputy and hitting him several times in the face before running away. The deputy chased Brim through campus, into the street and to the preschool area where he used a chemical agent and Brim was finally arrested.
The deputy was treated for minor injuries at the scene. Brim refused medical treatment.
